You can look that license up on the California Department of Insurance website, insurance.ca.gov. Quote requests from this site go to our licensed agents, who compare insurance companies for you. We are a broker, not an insurance company: policies are issued by the insurance companies we place them with.

How these pages are written

• Every legal statement in our tools links to the statute, regulation or DMV page it comes from, and we are adding those sources to our older guides as we review them.
• When something depends on your insurance company, the page says it varies by company instead of guessing.
• We do not publish average or typical rate figures.
• A page's "Updated" month changes only when its content really changes.
• Our free tools run in your browser; nothing you type into a tool is sent to us. (The quote form is how you choose to send us your details.)
